Ms. Samar Abboud

Samar Abboud is currently the Regional Emergency Director for the International Rescue Committee (IRC) covering the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Samar brings over 15 years of experience in the humanitarian and development field within the MENA and East Africa regions, spanning the Syria refugee crisis in Lebanon, the conflict emergency response in South Sudan, the migration response in North Africa, and most recently the Iraqi displacement response as it transitions to durable solutions. Her experience spans a broad range of senior management roles, including strategic planning, program quality and design, operations and delivery, and team leadership within organizations such as World Vision International, Save the Children International, and the IRC.
She has a master’s in public health from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon as well as a certificate of Humanitarian Leadership from Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia.
