Ms. Faith Nawagi

Faith Nawagi is the African Representative for the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) and its foundation, the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER), where she leads the implementation, co-development, and evaluation of the organization’s programs in Africa.. She is based in Kampala, Uganda. She holds a Ph.D. in Health Professions Education (HPE) with a focus on IPE from Makerere University. She pursued her master’s in International Public Health (Global Health) from Euclid University, a graduate Certificate in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and a bachelor’s degree in Nursing and Midwifery from Makerere University, Uganda.
She has extensive experience in the health workforce sector in Africa, in the domain of HPE, accreditation, nursing governance, international project development and implementation, development of global health training curriculum, teaching global health and research methodology, and designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating multicounty and multisite projects in Africa.
She has led various multicounty projects and programs in Africa focused on the internationalization of health professions education, nursing leadership and governance mapping, and global health, among others. She has worked with various international organizations and has extensive experience in mixed-methods data analysis, scientific writing, and grant writing. She has received multiple research grants and has been a principal investigator (PI) and Co-PI on numerous research projects whose outcomes are published in several scientific journals.
