Women’s Employment in Health in the EMR Region

While women are the face of the global health workforce, the World Health Organization (WHO) Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) is marked by men making up the majority of the health and care sector, especially within the context of paid employment. This session will evaluate the factors that impact womens’ employment in the EMR, analyzing data through a gender lens, and recommending targetted actions to improve working opportunities and conditions for women in the region, within the health workforce.
