Launch of Report on Childhood Obesity in Qatar

Over 340 million children between the ages of 5 and 19 worldwide are currently overweight or obese, leading to psychiatric, psychological and psychosocial implications in childhood, in addition to an increased risk of developing other non-communicable diseases. In Qatar, there is no exception with a steep increase in childhood obesity rates over the course of the last decade. This session will suggest tailor-made policies and frameworks that highlight and multisectoral partnerships and coordination to combat this growing challenge.
