Three organizations operating at the forefront of healthcare innovation have joined forces to host a special one-day event in London that will explore how healthcare professionals are currently incorporating pioneering ideas into their work and how innovation can play a part in improving the provision of healthcare in the future.

The Innovation in Healthcare Summit will be held at the Royal Horticultural Halls, London, on 11 December 2017. The summit is an initiative of the London-based Imperial College Health Partners (ICHP), the Institute of Global Health Innovation (IGHI), and the Doha-based World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH).

The summit will be opened by Professor the Lord Darzi of Denham, Director of IGHI and Executive Chair of WISH, an initiative of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF). Attendees from the UK, US, Kuwait, and Qatar will come together to take part in panel discussions and to hear keynote speakers who include Lord O’Shaughnessy, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the UK’s Department of Health; Dr. Adam Hill, Chief Medical Officer at McLaren Applied Technologies; and Dr. Victor Dzau, President of the US National Academy of Medicine and Chair of the WISH Precision Medicine forum.

The event, which will be streamed live online, will showcase young Arab innovators, and will act as a launch pad for an international innovation competition targeting healthcare innovators under the age of 30.

Speaking ahead of the summit, Lord Darzi said: “All three organizations involved in the ‘Innovation in Healthcare Summit’ are committed to looking for novel outcomes at the intersection of innovation and healthcare, so I’m delighted they have collaborated on the curation of this special London gathering on 11 December. The speakers and panelists selected for the summit represent the pinnacle of expertise in their fields, so attendees can expect to be part of a fascinating day of insightful talks and lively discussions.”

WISH is a global community of healthcare leaders, established by QF in 2012, that concentrates on undertaking research in areas where health and innovation intersect, and undertakes evidence-based research on pressing health issues, convening every two years for a global summit in Doha. The next summit, WISH 2018, will be held from 13-14 November 2018.
IGHI is a multidisciplinary team of over 160 clinicians, engineers, scientists, psychologists, policy analysts, data specialists, healthcare managers, economists, industrial designers, and entrepreneurs, all focused on the co-creation and diffusion of healthcare innovation to tackle some of the most pressing global challenges facing mankind today.

ICHP is a partnership organization that brings together National Health Service providers of healthcare services, clinical commissioning groups, and leading universities across North West London. It is also the designated Academic Health Science Network for North West London. By building connections across its unique network of health experts, ICHP has been able to accelerate the adoption and spread of innovation among its member organizations. ICHP also runs an extensive education program on a range of topics, including innovation and accountable care.
