    Chief Executive Officer, World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH), an initiative of Qatar Foundation

    Dr. Slim Slama is an internal medicine specialist and global public health leader with extensive experience across low-, middle-, and high-income countries. As CEO of the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) at Qatar Foundation, he advances health innovation and equity worldwide.

    Dr. Slama spent over a decade at the World Health Organization, where he led major initiatives on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) at both regional and global levels, including in emergency settings. He co-founded the Geneva Health Forum, taught global health at the University of Geneva, and has served on the board of Doctors Without Borders Switzerland.

    Dr. Slama is recognized for his leadership in integrating NCD care, humanitarian health, and climate resilience into global health systems.

  • Dr. Sunoor Verma

    Dr. Sunoor Verma

    Director of Partnerships and Outreach

    Dr. Sunoor Verma directs WISH’s global partnerships and advocacy, shaping collaborations that amplify health diplomacy, policy innovation, and cross-sector leadership. With over 25 years of experience as a worldwide health diplomat and strategist, he has advised UN agencies, governments, foundations and leading universities on coalition-building, advocacy, resource mobilization and crisis response. Under his leadership three policy centres were established in Europe, Asia and Australia.

    Dr. Sunoor’s career blends field-tested crisis leadership, Track II diplomacy, and a passion for equity. He has designed impactful partnerships with policymakers across continents and helped shape responses to global health crises, including pandemics and natural disasters. A former cardiothoracic surgeon, he brings precision and humanitarian service to his strategic roles. He serves as Honorary President of The Himalayan Dialogues, reflecting his commitment to cross-cultural dialogue and the empowerment of marginalised voices.

    Dr. Sunoor, a dynamic public speaker and educator, is renowned for distilling complexity and fostering authentic dialogue at major forums. He is dedicated to building coalitions where health, hope, and diplomacy converge and recharges through storytelling and mentoring.

  • Dr. Taskeen Khan

    Dr. Taskeen Khan

    Director of Research and Policy

    Dr. Taskeen Khan is instrumental in advancing WISH’s role as a global health policy leader, channeling her expertise to shape research-driven strategies and equitable frameworks. She leads initiatives that bridge evidence-based policy with diplomatic innovation, aligning with Qatar’s vision of health as a cornerstone of global diplomacy.

    Previously, as Strategic Health Lead for the Africa Europe Foundation, she orchestrated continental initiatives integrating climate action, health security, and digital health policy. At the World Health Organization, she spearheaded global NCD policy frameworks and managed health system strengthening across 47+ countries – including scaling hypertension programs to 20 nations and implementing standardized care for 17 million patients.

    Her expertise spans health diplomacy, policy innovation for climate-health risks, and leading health systems transformation through strategic coalition-building and large-scale program implementation.

    Committed to translating research into equitable action, she champions resilient health systems empowering communities worldwide. Beyond work, she explores cultures globally and stays active through exercise, fueling her innovative leadership.

  • Mr. Abdulla Saeed Al-Mohannadi

    Abdulla Saeed Al-Mohannadi, MPH

    Forums Manager

    Abdulla serves as Forums Manager at WISH, where he leads the development of research-driven content and contributes to shaping policy-focused health forums and reports. He also supports WISH’s strategic engagement with partners and global health stakeholders.

    With a background in health promotion and sports medicine, he previously held leadership roles at Aspetar, including Acting Director of the Exercise is Medicine Department, where he led national programs promoting physical activity and community health such as Qatar’s National Physical Activity Guidelines and the Qatar Active Healthy Kids Report Card.

    His core expertise lies in health promotion, physical activity policy, and multisectoral public health strategies aligned with the SDGs. He is committed to advancing community health and driving policy impact through inclusive, evidence-based approaches.

    Abdulla is a recreational cyclist and enjoys exploring the world on two wheels through charity rides with Qatar Cyclists, combining his love for travel with charity rides through Qatar Cyclists. He actively advocates for health promotion and community well-being through physical activity.

  • Ms. Aljawhra

    Aljawhra Mohammed Al-Mana

    Outreach Programme Manager

    As Outreach Programme Manager, Aljawhra Mohammed Al-Mana manages strategic programmes that elevate WISH’s visibility and impact locally and globally. She drives outreach and advocacy to position WISH as a premier platform for health innovation and thought leadership.

    Aljawhra holds an MSc in Islamic Finance from Hamad Bin Khalifa University and is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a BSc in Business Administration, Aljawhra brings over a decade of experience in communications, partnership development, and event outreach. Her expertise in stakeholder engagement has been key to managing critical partnerships and sponsorships for five editions of the WISH Summit.

    Deeply passionate about connecting people and ideas, Aljawhra is dedicated to driving meaningful change in global health. Outside work, she enjoys travel and discovering new cultures, enriching her approach to outreach and engagement.

  • Mr. Faisal Ali Al-Hitmi

    Faisal Ali Al-Hitmi

    Community Program and Outreach Manager

    Faisal Ali Al-Hitmi leads WISH’s community engagement efforts, translating global health policy into local impact. He spearheads initiatives such as Doha Healthcare Week and the Innovators of Tomorrow programme, positioning them as national platforms for health education, youth innovation, and public participation.

    With a background in engineering and an MBA, Faisal brings over a decade of experience in operations, administration, exhibitions, and business development—particularly in health innovation and telemedicine. His strength lies in designing and implementing systems and partnerships that turn health strategies into measurable, community-based action.

    Passionate about creating inclusive, operationally sound platforms for health awareness, Faisal is also inspired by cultural heritage, the design of public spaces, and mentoring students on innovation and leadership. His work reflects a commitment to bridging policy and people for meaningful change.

  • Ms. Maha El Akoum

    Maha El Akoum

    Manager of Content and Policy Translation

    Maha El Akoum manages policy research and content development at WISH, focusing on advancing global health policy and fostering innovation in healthcare systems. She has served as a Research Fellow for the WISH Islamic Bioethics series and has led several national public health initiatives in Qatar.

    Her expertise includes health policy, non-communicable diseases, precision health, and bioethics. Maha is committed to bridging global health ethics and policy perspectives, promoting evidence-based solutions, and advocating for ethical healthcare. A published author and former contributor to Qatar’s leading news platform, she wrote Sometimes I Worry, a children’s book on anxiety.

    Maha holds a BSc in Biological Sciences from the American University of Beirut and an MPH from Imperial College London. Her work is guided by a passion for storytelling and a dedication to ethical, evidence-based healthcare.

  • Dr. Sanaa

    Dr. Sanaa Alharahsheh

    Research Manager

    Dr. Sanaa Alharahsheh is a seasoned Research Manager at WISH with over 20 years of experience in healthcare research, policy development, and academic teaching. She holds a Ph.D. from Wayne State University, USA. She leads national and global initiatives on healthcare, global health, and policy, bridging research, policy, and practice to deliver equity-driven solutions. Her research interests cover a wide range of critical health areas, including mental health, autism, disability inclusion, digital technology and health, workforce development, women’s health, healthy aging, community engagement, and health system development and strengthening.

    Dr. Alharahsheh has secured competitive funding, built strategic partnerships with leading institutions, and published in high-impact journals. Her expertise includes research design, policy analysis and development, data analysis, strategic planning, and project leadership, making her a trusted voice in advancing evidence-based health policy. She is also an ad hoc reviewer for various scientific journals and a frequent presenter at national and international conferences.

    A strategic thinker and dedicated mentor, Dr Alharahsheh champions inclusive health systems through cross-cultural collaboration. Beyond her professional life, she enjoys travel, reading, photography, and competitive volleyball.

  • Ms. Ekta Bansal

    Ekta Bansal

    Head of Business Support

    Ekta Bansal is pivotal in operational strategy, financial planning, and big event delivery at WISH. With over 24 years of experience, she brings diligence and leadership to WISH’s flagship summits and international programmes. Her expertise spans financial stewardship, risk management, event operations, and human capital planning.

    Before joining WISH, Ekta held key roles within Qatar Foundation’s finance division, managing insurance portfolios, supplier validation, and policy enhancement. She is known for aligning cross-functional operations with the organisation’s long-term vision, ensuring each initiative advances WISH’s mission.

    Outside work, Ekta enjoys exploring new knowledge, cooking, and spending time with family. Her commitment to operational excellence and people-centred leadership makes her a cornerstone of WISH’s success.

  • Ms. Isra Magdi

    Isra Magdi

    Head of Strategic Partnerships and Health Policy

    Isra Magdi is the Head of Strategic Partnerships and Health Policy at WISH, where she oversees cross-sector collaborations to drive collective action on global health.
    With nine years of experience in humanitarian and development work across the MENA region and internationally, she focuses on building partnerships that create lasting impact. Isra began her career as an intern at UNICEF Sudan, where her journey took root, and has since held roles with the Qatar Fund for Development, Qatar Charity, and the United Nations. Through strategic advocacy and partnership-building, she has advanced institutional efforts in girls’ education, children’s welfare, refugee rights, sport for development and peace, and climate action across more than 25 countries, particularly in conflict-affected and fragile contexts.
    She holds a Master’s in Conflict Studies and International Relations from Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio in Spain and is a Sustainability Leadership Practitioner from the University of Cambridge. She speaks Arabic, English, French, and Spanish.
    Deeply passionate about purposeful, human-centered action that fosters a more inclusive, equitable, and just world. Outside work, she enjoys travelling, pilates, and playing the drums.

  • Mr. Faras Almeer

    Faras Almeer

    Community Development Officer

    As Community Development Officer, Faras Almeer identifies community needs to advocates for, and coordinates with partners to deliver effective solutions. His responsibilities include event coordination, management, and design, ensuring community voices are central to WISH’s strategy.

    Faras began his career in policy research at the Doha International Family Institute, later joining WISH as a research officer before transitioning to his current role. His cultivated awareness of social issues and experience in partner-driven initiatives enable him to champion equitable and accessible healthcare.

    An avid artist, Faras integrates creativity into his work, notably as lead artist for the World Cup 2022 Friendship Bench initiative—a collaborative mental health programme. His unique blend of policy expertise and artistic vision strengthens WISH’s approach to community engagement.

  • Mr. Newton Kamau

    Newton Kamau

    Executive Assistant

    Newton Kamau is a self-motivated administrative professional with over twelve years of experience supporting senior managers in dynamic office environments. He ensures the smooth delivery of WISH’s mandate through meticulous planning, scheduling, meeting follow-up, travel coordination, and general office support.

    Before joining WISH, Newton worked in the fast-paced travel industry, achieving high customer satisfaction and revenue growth through expert knowledge and a calm demeanour. His adaptability and attention to detail are assets in managing complex logistics and supporting organisational efficiency.

    Away from the office, Newton enjoys an abundant life, finding pleasure in solitude, music, and spending time with friends and family. His dedication to excellence behind the scenes is integral to WISH’s daily operations.

About Qatar Foundation

Qatar Foundation (QF) is a non-profit organization which, for 30 years, has supported the sustainable human, social, and economic development of Qatar through entities, programs, and initiatives focused on education, science and research, and community development.

QF was founded in 1995 by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Father Amir of Qatar, and Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, who shared the vision of providing quality education for everyone in Qatar. In the three decades since, this vision has evolved into a globally unique, multidisciplinary ecosystem of knowledge – offering opportunities for lifelong learning, fostering innovation, and empowering people to be socially engaged citizens and drivers of positive change.

Qatar Foundation Leadership

  • Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser

    Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser

    Chairperson

    Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser has been actively engaged in education and other social reforms in Qatar for many years and has played a major role in spearheading national and international development projects.

    Domestically, she currently serves as Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), a private non-profit organization founded in 1995. Its flagship project is Education City, which serves as a hub of academic excellence and houses branch campuses of renowned international universities and institutions. QF is also engaged in numerous scientific research and economic and social development projects. In addition to her work at Qatar Foundation, Sheikha Moza served as the Vice Chair of the Supreme Council of Health from 2009-2014 and as the Vice Chair of the Supreme Education Council from 2006-2012. In these roles, she helped enact major top-down reforms of Qatar’s public schools and healthcare system. More recently, she chairs Sidra Medicine, a new training and research hospital that opened its doors in 2016 and is set to become a leading institution for women and children’s specialty care.

    Internationally, Her Highness launched Education Above All (EAA) in 2012—a global initiative that aims to foster development and generate a global movement, with a particular focus on areas affected by poverty, conflict and disaster, the needs of children, and the empowerment of youth and women.

    Her Highness also launched the Silatech initiative in 2008 to address the growing challenge of youth employment in the Middle East and North Africa, which followed her appointment by the Secretary General of the UN as an Alliance of Civilizations (AOC) Ambassador.

    Her Highness also plays an active role with the UN to support global education. She was appointed as a United Nations (UN) Advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals in 2016, and was previously a member of the UN Millennium Development Goals Advocacy Group with a special emphasis on Goal 2—universal primary education. Her Highness serves as a UNESCO Special Envoy for Basic and Higher Education, through which she launched multiple projects including the International Fund for Higher Education in Iraq. In 2012, she was appointed as a Steering Committee Member of the UN Secretary-General’s Global Education First Initiative. The initiative aims to put every child in school, improve the quality of learning, and foster global citizenship.

    Among Her Highness’s many honors are the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy and the George Bush Award for Excellence in Public Service. In 2009, she was inducted into the Academie des Beaux Arts de l’Institut de France. In 2007, Sheikha Moza was presented the prestigious Chatham House Award for her contributions to improving international relations.

    Her Highness holds a Master of Arts (MA) in Public Policy in Islam from Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s College of Islamic Studies, and graduated from Qatar University with a degree in sociology. She has also been awarded honorary doctorates from Virginia Commonwealth University, Texas A&M University, Carnegie Mellon University, Imperial College London, and Georgetown University.

  • Sheikha Hind

    Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani

    Vice Chairperson

    As Vice Chairperson of Qatar Foundation (QF), Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani spearheads its mission to support the economic and social development of Qatar, through initiatives and programs in three core areas: education, science and research, and community development.

    Her Excellency embodies the cycle of education that QF has created, having graduated from Qatar Academy – the first school to be established by QF – and later continued her own academic journey at HEC Paris, Doha, a QF partner university. She is a passionate believer in the power of education to shape lives, strengthen societies, and build a better world; and, as a leader, active global citizen, and mother, an exemplification of how women are at the forefront of Qatar’s transformative journey.

    Her Excellency serves on the boards of several education and cultural institutes, including Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar National Library, HEC Paris, Doha – as a member of its International Board – Teach for Qatar, and Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, as a member of its Board of Trustees. In 2022, Her Excellency was appointed to the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic Education Commission.

    From 2008-2013, Her Excellency served as Director of the Office of His Highness the Father Amir of Qatar, and Chairperson of both the Joint Oversight Board and the Executive Committee of the College of the North Atlantic – Qatar. Her previous roles have also included Vice Chairperson and Chairperson of the Executive Committee of Qatar’s Supreme Education Council (now the Ministry of Education and Higher Education).

    Her Excellency holds an Executive MBA from HEC Paris, Doha, a Master of Arts degree in Human Rights from University College London in the UK, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University in the US.

  • Mr. Yousif Al-Naama

    Mr. Yousif Al-Naama

    Chief Executive Officer

    Yousif Al-Naama was appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Qatar Foundation in June 2025, bringing a skillset rooted in organizational planning and strategy, and a wealth of expertise in the development and application of technology for impact.

    With leadership experience across critical sectors, Yousif has been instrumental in shaping and advancing Qatar’s digital transformation landscape in both the public and private sectors.

    Yousif was one of the founding members of Malomatia, Qatar’s leading IT services provider, and served as its CEO for over 15 years. His far-sightedness and vision were vital in leading the company to new heights as a commercial enterprise supporting national efforts, as well as creating strategic partnerships with major multinational companies. Under his leadership, the organization executed over 500 major digital transformation projects, achieved consistent revenue growth, and now employs more than 1,100 professionals.

    He began his career at RasGas, a leading liquified natural gas producer, where he contributed to major digital and operational projects. Yousif later joined the Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology (ictQATAR), where he was also one of the founding team members and contributed to the development of the first ICT Strategy and Masterplan for the country, laying the foundation for many of the digital public services now integral to Qatar’s economy and society.

    Yousif is a strong advocate for human capital development, particularly in advancing Qatari talent in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. He has championed local workforce programs, partnerships with universities, and knowledge-transfer initiatives that align with Qatar National Vision 2030.

    He holds a Bachelor’s (Hons) Degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Glamorgan in Wales, UK.
