Mark Hughes brings extensive leadership experience having been a Senior Leader for specialist schools, colleges, and services for children and young people with complex, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, including Autistic Spectrum Conditions, ranging back to 1989. His career has included new, diverse, and challenging situations both as a leader of schools, as Director of Education for two leading United Kingdom charities and as a Chief Executive. Mark developed brand new provisions, opened new schools and colleges, and developed residential care homes for children and adults with learning disabilities.
As the Executive Director of Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Special Schools and Special Educational Needs Services, Mark represents one of the most diverse populations of students in Qatar. Students have a wide range of learning needs and disabilities. As part of the QF Pre-University Education, working within a network made up of 13 schools, Mark is committed to the philosophy that everyone belongs and that everyone can be successful irrespective of the challenges they confront. He has maintained and is highly motivated to ensure a truly inclusive ecosystem that makes a real and sustainable difference to the lives of all Qatar Foundation students, and the development of new services and provisions for students with special educational needs in Qatar.
