Ms. Marisol Touraine

Member of France’s highest court (Conseil d’Etat), Marisol Touraine held various political positions at the local level and in the French Parliament before being appointed Minister of Social Affairs, Health and Women’s Rights (2012-2017). In this role, she notably pushed through programs promoting women’s health, valued women’s “care” work, and developed social protection policies promoting women’s autonomy. She has been Chair of Unitaid since 2019, an international partner organization of the WHO that promotes equitable access to health in low-income countries through innovation.
Marisol Touraine studied at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris, the Institut of political studies in Paris and Harvard University in the United States.
