Mr. Mamadou Sow

Mamadou Sow has nearly 20 years of professional leadership and humanitarian experience in the United States (US), Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. He was appointed Head of Regional Delegation for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in June 2022.
Prior to joining the ICRC in the Gulf region, he served for three years as the ICRC’s Head of Regional Delegation for Southern Africa based in Pretoria, South Africa, and for 2.5 years as Operations Coordinator for Africa, based in Geneva. His other previous postings included Rwanda, Iraq, Afghanistan, Mali, Nigeria, and Palestine (Gaza).
Before joining the ICRC, Mamadou worked for the State Legislative Leaders Foundation, a US based, non-partisan institution that strengthens the capacity of legislative leaders. He also worked as a teaching assistant at McGill University Department of Political Science, focusing on African politics and politics in developing nations.
Mamadou holds a Master of Arts in political science from McGill and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from North Carolina Central University.
Mamadou hails from Senegal and is perfectly fluent in Wolof, French and English.
