In March 2017, H.E. Jainaba Jagne was appointed as the Gambian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of India. She was concurrently accredited as High Commissioner to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. H.E. Jagne initiated bilateral relationships for The Gambia with the Republic of Maldives and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and was Ambassador-designate to both countries, as well as the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
Since assuming her duties in Ethiopia in January 2020, H.E. has served on the African Union Peace and Security Council from 2022 to 2024, with a renewed term from 2024 to 2026. She is currently the Co-Chair of the African Platform on Children Affected by Armed Conflict with the African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security. She is also Co-Chair of the Group of Friends (African Union, Addis Ababa) of the African Women Leaders Network with the Ambassador of Germany. Ambassador Jagne is a member of the International Humanitarian Law Caucus Group of Ambassadors.
