The Ministry of Public Health is the entity responsible for all matters related to public health in the State of Qatar. It oversees the provision of healthcare services, ensuring that both preventive and curative health services are globally recognised and of international repute. The Ministry also promotes and enhances health awareness, regulates and supervises the establishment and operation of private healthcare facilities, oversees the health insurance system, and supervises hospitals, primary healthcare centres, and the practice of medical and allied health professions, as well as pharmaceutical services.
Furthermore, the Ministry is dedicated to developing electronic medical strategies and capabilities, fostering a supportive environment for innovative healthcare research, maintaining a system for preparedness and response to national health emergencies, and supervising the treatment of citizens abroad. It is also responsible for regulating and ensuring food safety.
The Ministry strives to develop a comprehensive, integrated healthcare system that aligns with the highest global standards, ensuring that all segments of society can access and benefit from its services. This commitment supports the goals of the Human Development Pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
