Ready Teddy, Pediatric MRI Simulation
MRIs are an intimidating and scary procedure that require patients to remain perfectly still for prolonged periods of time. As a result, in the United States 49% of pediatric patients are sedated for MRIs. With no data driven method of determining which patients require sedation, anesthesia is often a default. Ready Teddy is an innovative simulation using virtual reality technology that prepares children for an MRI and provides a new data source for clinicians. The patent pending technology acquires biometrics that correlate with analogous MRI data to provide a new metric to inform clinical teams which patients need sedation.
