Professor Flemming Konradsen

Professor Flemming Konradsen is Chief Scientific Officer for Health at the Novo Nordisk Foundation, where he is responsible for the development and implementation of the Foundation’s research and development programs across health and global health. He is also a member of the Foundation’s Executive Management.

With more than 30 years of experience in research, programing, and teaching in environmental and global health, Professor Konradsen has held senior academic and leadership positions internationally.

Prior to joining the Foundation in 2022, he served as Director of the School of Global Health at the University of Copenhagen from 2007 to 2023 and as Visiting Professor at Emory University from 2008 to 2022. He has led and coordinated university-wide education initiatives and international partnerships and has contributed significantly to strengthening research capacity across Asia, Africa, and the Nordic region.

Professor Konradsen also serves as Chair of the Board of the Poul Due Jensen Foundation (Grundfos Foundation), having been a board member since 2019.

From 2014 to 2021, he chaired the Consultative Research Committee for Development Research (FFU) under the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He holds a PhD and an MSc in Environmental Health from the University of Copenhagen, as well as a BSc in Biology and Natural Resources Management.
