Dr. Sadim Jawhar

Dr. Sadim Jawhar is a Research Program Manager in the Biomedical and Health team at the Scientific Research Program Office within the Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation Council (QRDIC). She manages the Path towards Precision Medicine initiative and oversees a broad portfolio of research initiatives and projects across multiple disciplines. Dr. Sadim has been instrumental in developing and leading several collaborative research funding initiatives, both locally and internationally spanning diverse fields such as biomedical and health sciences, social sciences, energy and environment, and information and communication technology. Dr. Sadim also serves as the co-chair for the MENA region’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion working group within the Global Research Council (GRC) and is a member of its Arab working group. Prior to joining QRDIC, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Qatar Biomedical Research Institute, where she contributed to a collaborative project with the Institute for Translational Neuroscience at the University of Sheffield. Her work there focused on evaluating gene therapy approaches for spinal muscular atrophy. Dr. Sadim earned her PhD from the Max-Planck International Research School for Neurosciences and the University of Göttingen in Germany. Her doctoral research, which explored therapeutic targets in Alzheimer’s disease using mouse models, earned her the GGNB Excellence Stipend and the Otto-Creutzfeldt PhD Award for best thesis. She has published in several peer-reviewed journals and co-authored a chapter on Alzheimer’s disease in the book Neuroscience in the 21st Century: From Basic to Clinical. Dr. Sadim holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences (Honors) from Qatar University.
