SughaVazhvu Healthcare
SughaVazhvu Healthcare, through its rural primary healthcare network in the Thanjavur district (Tamil Nadu, India), aims to create disease-free villages. They tightly integrate technology, human resource solutions and chronic disease management to provide affordable care in rural areas. To address workforce shortages, SughaVazhvu trains under-utilized AYUSH (alternative Indian medicine) physicians to provide evidence-based primary care using clinical protocols developed in association with the University of Pennsylvania. The operation is powered by an award-winning (Nasscom Social Innovation Honour 2014) Health Management Information System that captures detailed histories of patient-physician interactions, interacts with the local supply-chain and integrates with mobile platforms. Their subscription-based program enables patients with chronic cardiovascular diseases to proactively manage their condition to improve health outcomes. SughaVazhvu has grown to 9 clinics covering 60 villages and has recorded 70,000 patient footfalls.
