Health Impacts of Air Quality in Urbanized Arid Regions – Towards Policy Options (by invite only)

Effective policy solutions are needed to combat air pollution, the second leading risk factor for death worldwide, second only to high blood pressure. Sources of air pollution are diverse, and are not always manageable, such as regional dust storms – in these cases, action plans must be set to protect humans from exposure. This roundtable discussion will explore progress on legislative action that helps to reduce the impact of air quality on health, in addition to showcasing recent research in Qatar and globally in potential interventions to reduce exposure and negative health impacts.
