Smile Train is an international children’s charity with a sustainable approach to a single, solvable problem: cleft lip and palate. The limited number of trained surgeons in the developing world poses an obstacle to the provision of reconstructive surgery. To provide essential training to surgeons and medical professionals in the developing world in a sustainable and cost-effective manner, Smile Train developed the Smile Train Virtual Surgery Simulator in collaboration with technology leader BioDigital. This simulator is a free, web-accessible tool that provides immersive, interactive instruction on
